Chat with your local AI
Ask a question or describe what you need help with. Your chosen local model answers on your computer. Follow up, ask for a revision or add more information as the conversation develops.
Writing and questions
Ancilo can help draft emails, translate text, explore ideas and explain concepts. Say who a text is for and what you want it to achieve. A follow-up question or an example gives the model more to work with.
Answer quality depends on the model. Small local models can mix up facts or invent plausible answers. Check important details before using them.
Optional web search
You can add a web search when you need current information. By default, Ancilo shows the query and asks before sending it. You can allow automatic searches instead. Answers identify the sources used.
Wikipedia needs no account. Google through Serper requires your own API key and may incur provider fees. Search terms leave your computer. When search results are fetched, the websites receive your IP address.
Documents in a conversation
Attach files to a chat or add a folder as a chat project. Ancilo finds relevant passages and references its sources. Document conversations use local AI only.
Choosing a model
During setup, Ancilo recommends a model for your computer. After downloading it, you can chat locally without internet; web search will be unavailable. Local requests incur no AI provider fees.
